  • SUMMER FEEDING PROGRAM During Summer School Vacation, we offer a hot meal to all children up to the age of 18 years old. We provide this lunch, Monday through Friday, from 11:00AM until 12:30 PM.

This service was created to provide specifically for those children who are on the free School Lunch Program during the school year that would otherwise not receive a meal.

Though this is our desire, all children are welcome. This past summer we served, on average, 60 children a day.

    SPECIAL EVENTS

Memorial Day: Normally we either have this event on this day or on Labor Day. We have Picnic at one of our local parks, complete with free hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks. Entertainment is provided, including special singing by various bands and groups as well as games of volleyball, horse shoes, a dunk tank, basketball and a softball game between parents and their children. Free groceries are also provided, on sight, from the back of a tractor-trailer truck.

Back-To-School Day: The last Friday before the fall semester of school, we provide free school supplies for all who signed-up during the Summer Lunch Program we supply. When the children sign-up, we ask them for their favorite color and their favorite character (Barbie, Power Rangers, etc.) We obtain all their school supplies that are
required by the school district, along with a backpack to carry them in. We try to personalize each child's backpack and supplies by providing them with their favorite color and/or character they had requested.

Labor Day: See Memorial Day Fall Fun Festival This is provided around Halloween, and consists of a carnival type atmosphere. It includes a cake walk, several different booths (pop the balloon, go fishing, etc.) for the child to win prizes, food and drink, big Moon Walk, entertainment, etc. As at any carnival, tickets are used at each booth. All tickets are provided free.

Senior Citizen's Christmas Luncheon In cooperation with the Haltom City Senior Center, we provide a free luncheon and entertainment for all senior adults who desire to attend. This is normally the 2ndSaturday of December. We also give out free groceries to all who attend.

In 2003, we served 1,100 meals, including sending out about 300 meals to the bridges and parks to feed the homeless. Also on this day, we give free groceries and raffle off door prizes of frozen turkeys and all the fixings.

Christmas Day On Christmas Day from 1100 AM until 1:00 PM we serve a free luncheon. The day begins with Mr. And Mrs. Santa Clause arriving on a Haltom City Fire Truck. Once in place, they give out free gifts to every child in attendance. We also offer free groceries and clothing, free haircuts and showers, and send out hot meals, winter coats, sleeping bags and blankets to the bridges and parks for the homeless.
